Samplers at Auction

You can find this charming sampler, Lot 176, in the upcoming sale at Woolley and Wallis of Salisbury on 16 October. It is a Regency needlework sampler by Amelia Chinery, aged 12 years, 1817, showing The Temple of Fame. There is a cottage with curling smoke and a large dog guarding grazing sheep. It measures 13.25 x 12.75in (33.5 x 32.5cm) and has an estimate of £300 - £500. For more details, click here.
Above is Lot 1949 for sale on 11 October by Lawrences Auctioneers of Crewkerne. It was worked by Ann Poore in 1794 and is rich in decorative details. It measure 16.5 inches (42cms) x 12.5 inches (32cms) and has an estimate of £150 - £200. Click here for more details.

Later in the month, on 20 October is a two day sale of the contents and exhibits of a heritage museum ( I don't kow which.) at Over Whitacre Village Hall, Nuneaton Road, Over Whitacre, North Warwickshire, B46 2NH. Lot 426 is a charming Georgian sampler with costumed figuresflanking a Solomon's Porch by Sarah Robinson 1774. It measures 34 x 45 cm and has a low estimate of £15 - £30. Lot 391 at Mellors and Kirk, Nottingham on 5 October is a quirky early 19th century sampler by Mary Eline. There is no estimate. Click here for sale details.
Last bu not least is an interesting French or Belgian sampler of 1901 for sale at Bentley's Auction Rooms on 6 October. It is Lot 103 and has an estimate of £50 - £70. Click here for more details.
